SNAP News

 Hello everyone,

Our May Sock Hop dinner dance was great fun. Thank you to all our volunteers and board members; we couldn’t do it without your help! Thank you for all our members for supporting the events! We love seeing all of you having fun! We have some updated event dates. Some dates and locations are yet to be determined. (See the SNAP calendar below.) We are also working on some grant ideas and need your input for future fundraising ideas. We are asking members to volunteer as a fundraising committee. We need your support to continue to provide activities and events. We will discuss this in more detail at the next board meeting. We are also looking for sponsors and volunteers to help with events by volunteering their time or financially sponsoring an event. Please share our organization with all your business friends. Thank you for your continued support!

UPCOMING EVENTS

• June 21st Movie Showing at Riverside Resources from 2:00 PM until completion of the Movie. Several movie options will be available for vote. If you have Facebook, please RSVP to the event if coming, or you can TEXT me at (913)-406-1722 if you are attending. This will help us with the amount of Popcorn & Candy required for the movie.

• July 19th Swim at Wolman Pool 11-12:30

• Board Meeting - August 6th at 6:00 pm at the East Room of the Leavenworth Public Library. All Board members are requested to attend.

• August 16th Swim at Wolman Pool 11-12:30

• September - Football Watch Party at the Local Hotel, 14 September, Kickoff is 3:25 pm. This could be subject to change. September is also membership renewal time

• October Board Meeting Date and Location TBD we will finalize the Barn Dance and propose new board members.

• October 18th Autumn Dinner/Dance 6:00-8:00 pm Barn Dance (McLoth, Kansas, Complete Address will be posted before dance) (Participants must have their own transportation to and from)

• November – Movie or Game Night, Date and Location TBD

• December - Annual Meeting/Dinner/Dance, 6:00 – 8:00 PM, Date and Location TBD

  PHOTOGRAPHING OF SELF-ADVOCATES  

Occasionally pictures of self-advocates are taken during SNAP activities.  These are used for informational displays about our services to the community and for publicity purposes.  They may be incorporated into information which will be provided to the United Way and shown to service organizations in fund raising efforts.  There may be times when the photos are published in the SNAP newsletter or the local newspaper.

Before use of photos of individuals it is necessary that we have a release signed by the self-advocate or his/her parent or guardian on file.  Please complete the release for this purpose.
